“Growing Takes Time,” an interactive performance by multidisciplinary artist Karley Wasaff, debuted at Satellite Art Gallery, a quirky and experimental space in the heart of SoHo/Lower East Side known for its immersive and genre-blurring events.
The piece explored themes of growth and hardship, unraveling through an hour-long rotational performance that combined grappling movements inspired by jiu jitsu with surreal, plantlike costuming influenced by Pikmin. Crowds lined up around the block, eager to catch the intimate show through the gallery’s windows or inside the tight-knit venue itself.
The performance starring Juwai Pitkin, Macee Eppard , and Isa Segall captivated guests and passersby alike, with reactions ranging from shock to laughter, and charmed curiosity as dancers pulled the audience into their world—literally.
The tactile, evolving performance had guests talking all night.
The visual experience was elevated by a digital art curation from Josh Sauceda, co-founder of ARCHIV3 Magazine, showcasing 12 cutting-edge international artists.
Following the performance, guests were invited to stay for a networking afterparty hosted by ARCHIV3 x KwK, where they mingled over wine, a “Pikmii Margarita Punch,” and drinks from ARCHIV3’s official alternative beverage sponsor — TBD.
